The project aims at studying fund amental photophysical properties of DNA-templated silver nanoclusters , using time-resolved spectroscopy and microscopy techniques. These n anoclusters feature fascinating properties, including strong absorpti on and intense emission, which can be readily tuned by changing the D NA sequence. This makes them suitable for a wide range of application s from biosensing to nanophotonics. The project is carried out in col laboration with the synthesis group of Prof. Tom Vosch at the Univers ity of Copenhagen. The contribution of the candidate will be the eluc idation of the photophysical properties, including electronic structu re and dynamics of these cluster and their dependence on the DNA stru cture. The gained knowledge should enable rational design criteria fo r further improvements of DNA-templated silver nanoclusters for targe ted applications. To carry out the studies we are equipped with the a dvanced multidimensional spectroscopy and microscopy tools. Besides the high quality of life afforded in Sweden, the position off ers the possibility to work in the diverse and stimulating interdisci plinary environment at the Division of Chemical Physics, Lund Univers ity. The successful candidate should preferably have a background in physical chemistry, or molecular physics or laser spectroscopy.
